Salkantay is one of the special trekking to Machu Picchu. Walking next to the second highest mountain in Cusco Region (6271mt) which located in the Vilcabamba mountain range, Salkantay is one of the Sacred Mountains since our ancestors the Incas. Actually this trekking is special because this option is for lovers of walking, the real adventure way to visit Machu Picchu.
During 5 days will filling you with unique and unforgettable experience, along the Journey to Machu Picchu, you will enjoy beautiful and unique landscapes. With hight Mountains, Andean Valleys, Tropical jungle and more.
DAY 01: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – HUMANTAY LAKE – SORAYPAMPA.
Pick up from your Hotel in Cusco (05:00 am). Our tourist transportation will take us to Mollepata town (2800 m. /9,186 ft) After 3 hours approx. we will arrive there for breakfast and we will meet with our team who will accompany us during our trek. After breakfast we will continue to Challacancha sector. Where our trek will start next to Inca canal, we will have an approximatly 03 hours crossing beautiful landscapes to the camp site of Soraypampa. (3800 masl). Arriving in Soraypampa we will enjoy our delicious lunch. After that we will ascend to the famous Humantay Lake (4,220 masl -1 hour-30 minutes aprox.). After appreciating this beautiful place we will descend to Soraypampa campsite. 1st camp
DAY 02: SORAYPAMPA – CHAULLAY.
After breakfast, we will start our hike from 4 to 5 hours approximatly ascending to the highest pass, (4650 m / 15,255 ft) we will be able to appreciate the most amazing views of the Salkantay Mountain (6272 m / 20,577 ft). After we will descending to the lunch place from there we will continue to see the spectacular Mountains Humantay and Huayanay. Then we will enter to the cloud forest and our second camp in Chaullay (2950 m / 9.678 ft) the sub-tropical forest area. It’s the hardest day but you will have a great experience.

DAY 03: CHAULLAY – LA PLAYA – SANTA TERESA
After our delicious breakfast, we begin our trek to Sahuayaco-La Playa. On the way we will enjoy a beautiful subtropical jungle and we will be able to observe the coffee plantations, bananas and other fruits, including some beautiful orchids according the season. We will make a short stop for lunch in Sahuayaco or La Playa and then we continue our trip to the town of Santa Teresa our 3rd camp on this day we will have the opportunity to enjoy the best thermal baths, highly recommended.
DAY 04: SANTA TERESA – AGUAS CALIENTES
Early in the morning after our breakfast we will continue walking towards the Hydroelectric of Machupicchu. Here we have two options to take the train or walk 2.5 hours more to reach the town of Aguas Calientes or Machupicchu town where we spend the night in a hotel.
On the other hand this day we have one of the optional but recommended activities is the Zip Line activity that option it´s after our breakfast.
DAY 05: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
Breakfast in our hotel, we will take one of the first buses to Machu Picchu. In the control we will present our original ID (Passport) and our entrance ticket, to visit the Inca city of Machupicchu. The tour with our guide is usually about 3 hour’s aprox. Then you will have free time to visit and explore Machupicchu or visit the Huaynapicchu Mountain. Finishing our tour in Machupicchu, we will back down to the town of Aguas Calientes to take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then transport to Cusco City.
